Venture The Underground Lake at Kov-Ata

A landlocked nation can have a hard time finding a swimming spot. Turkmenistan has the Caspian Sea but it’s too far away for comfort. Thankfully they have a natural lake about 200 feet underground. Kov-Ata means “Father of Caves” and is associated with many local legends. The natural sulphuric water has also been claimed to have healing properties in the aforementioned legends. Chemical analysis has shown that it contains a complex combination of chemical elements as well as signs of biological activity.
